ground zero map escape from tarkov

The Ground Zero map is a haven for players who love breaching approaches and checking their corners. This map is considered by many as the prelude to the Streets of Tarkov map, and in-game lore is regarded as where the conflict of the game started.

Comprised of seven building lots with towering skyscrapers each and a central underground path spawning from the northern part of the map down to its southern side, players must traverse the area with caution from hostile NPCs and players alike.

Map Design and Description

Ground Zero Map

Unlike other maps, the Ground Zero map consists of a singular main path that travels from south to north, wherein players can go through inside some buildings to traverse in either direction.

Notably, there are seven main building lots placed inside the map, with each lot varying in size as well as for the building or group of buildings inside it.

  • Elemental Global (Top North), consists of a mall complex with three notable building towers spread through its lot.
  • Skyside (Middle-Upper West), consists of a huge business center wherein it sandwiches the entrance to the western underground parking area.
  • Fusion (Middle Lower West), is another building complex that also sandwiches the other half of the entrance to the western underground parking area.
  • Capital Insight (Bottom South West), is a building tower complex that is connected to the curved road down south that leads to the Nakatani building lot.
  • Nakatani (Bottom South East), is notable for having a basement location that players can access for loot.
  • Empire (Middle Lower East), consists of another tower building complex with a pathway to the Labyrinth parking area.
  • Terragroup (Middle-Upper East), the biggest building lot and complex on the map, has a notable open park on its ground level.

Map Spawn Points

There are 47 spawn points scattered all around the Ground Zero map to watch out for, all divided into four categories: PMC, Scav, Bosses, and Cultists.

The PMC spawn points have the majority of the numbers, with 20 spawn points, most notably in both Fusion and Captial Insight building lots, with some in the underground path. The remaining spawn points are scattered in other locations.

As for Scav, they are almost equally scattered all over the map, with a few in the underground path. Bosses’ spawn points are located near the Scav ones, so Scav players must be alert for them.

Lastly, the Cultists’ spawn points are sparingly scattered around the map, with the majority of them located on the main central road.

Map Features

The features of this map are limited to only mounted stationary weapons, which are listed below.

Also, take note that two bosses spawn and roam around within the perimeter of their spawn location at first, then will freely roam around the map. Keep them in mind when exploring the map for loots as the bosses could be anywhere on the map at a given time.

As usual, players should be aware of traps such as Minefields, Claymores, and Border Snipers.

Mounted Stationary Weapons

There are two types of stationary mounted weapons that any player can use: AGS-30 30x29mm automatic grenade launchers, which are highly effective when used correctly, and NSV “Utyos” 12.7×108 heavy machine guns, which can easily mow down enemies.

The first weapon (AGS-30) is located on the Capital Insight building tower complex, while the second weapon (NSV “Utyos”) is located at the Empire building lot, on the pathway leading to the Labyrinth location.

Map Bosses

The map features two bosses: Kollontay and the Cultist Priest. Both bosses can spawn anywhere on the map via their spawn points, and after spawning, will wander around the map. Players are advised caution when engaging with either one.

Kollontay wields a PR-Taran Police Baton, a Kalashnikov AKMN 7.62×39 assault rifle, and a Lebedev PL-15 9×19 pistol, aside from other weapons. His guards are equipped with submachine guns, shotguns, and both frag and flash grenades.

Meanwhile, the Cultist Priest can be wielding a variety of weapons, such as the Kalashnikov AKS-74UB 5.45×39 assault rifle, PP-91-01 Kedr-B 9x18PM submachine gun, or CMMG Mk47 Mutant 7.62×39 assault rifle, just to name a few. He is usually accompanied by 3 to 4 cultist warriors, wielding random weapons as they spawn, so take precautions when facing them as they can be unpredictable.

Take note that most of the Cultists’ weaponry is equipped with suppressors, as they prefer attacking from the shadows and longer ranges while in cover.

Extraction Points

There are 5 extraction points plus 1 special extraction point that a player can use to exit the map once their objective has been completed (i.e. loot hunting or quest cleared, etc.) or if they simply just want to leave the map altogether.

Do take note that some specific extraction locations have certain requirements to be used, just like in any map in the game.

As for the special extraction point, it will only appear in the Marathon game mode under specific requirements.
