Introduced on March 27, 2025, the eleventh map, named “The Labyrinth” (spelled as The Λabyrinth), thrusts players right into the heart of a claustrophobic and spooky underground map that is riddled with many deadly traps and confusing chambers that have multiple entry and exit points, making room breaching with extreme caution essential.
Add that most pathways, chambers, and rooms are barely lit, and players must be prepared to fight in low-light to no-light situations. Fighting with a team becomes much harder, as friendly fire can be a huge issue on this map, bringing out the skills and discipline of players when engaging shootouts in dark, confined spaces.
Map Design and Description
In-game lore explains that the location is supposed to be a facility of one of TerraGroup’s contractors, Knossos LLC. Bizarrely, according to available public resources, the contractor is known for making amusement and theme parks. However, their work at The Λabyrinth shows that it was designed more as a military facility, based on how the layout of the overall location was intended.
Gaining Access To The Λabyrinth
The only way to access the new underground map is via the Shoreline map, which is based on the outskirts of Tarkov, near the Port. Although considered a bare-bones and basic location by many players, the new Labyrinth map will make Shoreline significant to many players again, as it will be the only way to access the latest map currently.
To access The Λabyrinth, players must use the transit available in Shoreline, located in the basement of the health resort’s west wing. Furthermore, players need a Labrys access card to unlock the door that leads to the transit to the new Labyrinth map. And just like earlier, another specific item is required to use the transit; in this case, the Knossos LLC facility key.
How to Get The Access Keycard and the Facility Key
Players can obtain the Labrys Access Keycard in multiple ways in-game. The first way is through rewards from various quests: the Hot Zone, the Tarkov Butcher, and the Competition Protection. The fourth way of getting one is through Ref’s weekly and hard daily operation tasks, after completing his Creator Inspiration – Part 2 quest. One is available from the map boss, Shadow of Tagilia, as part of his loot drops when he is defeated.
Note that this unsellable keycard cannot be shared with other players; each must have their own when accessing The Λabyrinth. Additionally, only 2 copies of the keycard can be carried by each player.
Meanwhile, the Knossos LLC Facility Key can only be obtained in Shoreline, in each raid. The keys are scattered around the health resort in that map, wherein each location guarantees one spawn of the key for every raid.
There are five spawn locations total, where players can get one each. Players can carry a maximum of 10 pieces and cannot be sold in the flea market, just like the access card.
Map Spawn Points
The Λabyrinth has five starting spawn point locations that can come through into… however, there’s a twist to each spawn point: puzzles or deadly traps. The five spawn locations are Toxic Pool, Steam Hazard, Fire Hazard, Shotgun Trap, and Toxic Puddle, each having its features as a puzzle/trap that players must solve successfully to gain access to the larger, inner parts of the underground map.
#1 Toxic Pool
Located at the top northeast of the map, this spawn has a puzzle that players need to solve first to gain access to the inner underground map safely. With several smaller rooms, one with a pool of bright green radioactive waste material, players must find a key within those several rooms to unlock the red door to the room with the switch, which will drain the toxic pool, allowing players to access the main area.
#2 Steam Hazard
The western Steam Hazard room has a similar puzzle that must be solved for a safe passage. In this room, a deadly stream of hot steam prevents players from accessing the locked door that leads into the inner underground map. The solution is to find a red valve inside the area that turns off the pipe that releases the deadly steam.
#3 Fire Hazard
Ditching the deadly hot steam for an equally deadly flammable gas, this northwestern spawn point, despite sounding deadly, is more of a simple puzzle-based room. It just needs a blowtorch to unlock the control room of the gas pipes to turn off the flammable gas spouting out from its broken pipeline. Once turned off, players can access the door leading to the inner underground map.
#4 Shotgun Trap
Just like its name suggests, don’t be fooled by being able to see the white door with a symbol that leads into the inner underground map without any sort of hazards; rush in blindly, and you’ll be full of bullet holes from the ceiling. This southeastern spawn point contains shotgun traps that players must disable first to get even close to the white door leading to the inner underground map.
#5 Toxic Puddle
The last spawn point is located south of the map, you will need the blowtorch from the Fire Hazard spawn point to navigate this room in one piece. Just like the first spawn point, a massive puddle of bright green radioactive waste material that should be drained to safely access the white door connected to the inner underground map. The drainage lever is behind a locked sewer door, wherein the blowtorch must be used to unlock it.
Map Features
Similar to other maps in Escape From Tarkov, the Λabyrinth has its distinct feature, and players must be aware of it to fully take advantage of the map against their foes and hazards alike. Below are some of the features that players should look out for:
Insurance And Insurance Traders
In raids (wherein players participate in a map and its objectives), players who brought insured weapons and left them accidentally or dropped them due to death will not be returned. Instead, players can hire Insurance Traders who can get their insured weapons back for a certain price.
However, there’s a catch: there is a specific time limit as to how long insurance traders can operate, and once that limit is reached, the traders will make excuses such as not reaching the location, failing to find it or dying in the process.
Alarm
In the center part of the map, there is an alarm that will go off once a player is nearby, potentially alerting other players and the patrolling bosses to that location.
The only way to deactivate the alarm is through the multiple switches scattered around the central location of the map.
Traps
Unlike in other maps, the traps in The Λabyrinth are randomized with each raid, so it is useless to remember their locations beforehand. Several different kinds of traps are placed within the map, such as tripwires.
The most dangerous trap would be the poisoned barbed wire, usually placed on the ground in dark areas. Once poisoned, players must immediately seek a xTG-12 Injector or a Perfotoran injector unless they want to die slowly inside the underground base.
Extraction Points
There are only two extraction points in the Labyrinth map that any player can use, as long as they have met the requirements for extraction.
The first extraction point, called Ariadne’s Path, is located southwest of the inner underground map, a bit near the Steam Hazard spawn point. It is always available and can be used multiple times. However, for players to be able to use this extraction point, they will need the Ariadne symbol key to unlock the door of this extraction point and escape the map.
Meanwhile, the second extraction point, The Way Up, is near the central part of the map, to the east, going in the direction of the passageway leading to the Shotgun Trap spawn point. Unlike Ariadne’s Path, which requires a special key to unlock, this extraction point is free and can be used multiple times. The only catch is that this extraction point will only be available after 15 minutes have passed from the start of the raid.
Map Bosses
There are two unique map bosses in the Λabyrinth that players should watch out for.
Shadow of Tagilla
An axe-wielding, crazed man, this creepy boss is notable for wearing a full-face metal helmet decorated with bull horns on each side, encircling towards the front like a bull’s horn does.
He will use his Chained Labrys dual-headed axe to melee careless players down, but will also cleverly use his other main weapons for ranged combats: either his Saiga-12K 12ga automatic shotgun or his Kalashnikov AK-12 5.45×39 assault rifle, both of which can be devastating at medium to long ranges when not countered properly.
Due to the cramped nature of the underground map, players should be alert and expect this boss anywhere, as he doesn’t stay in one place. The Shadow of Tagilla does not set off tripwires and is immune to explosive damage, while his health pool is fairly large, so players will need lots of time, ammunition, and luck to take this boss down.
(Vengeful) Killa
A fairly common and early boss in-game, players will most likely be surprised to see Killa in the new Labyrinth map, as he is usually found in open city maps. However, he has a chance to appear in the new map once Shadow of Tagilla has been taken down, bringing his usual tactics into play.
Killa’s strategy is to suppress his enemies with a light machine gun with a large ammo capacity, such as his RPK-16 5.45×39 light machine gun or his Kalashnikov AKMS 7.62×39 assault rifle. While doing so, he ducks from cover to cover in a zigzag pattern, drawing close to his target until he manages to ambush them out of their cover.
And due to his agility and way of movement, it is quite impossible to pin Killa down with grenades, as he uses his grenades aside from smoke screens, making him more unpredictable when facing him as an enemy. Although rare, there will be an instance wherein Killa will spawn only with his TT-33 7.62×25 TT pistol.
Closing Thoughts
The Labyrinth brings a new, challenging map that players are invited to explore, conquer, and master. They must master fighting inside dark, claustrophobic rooms and chambers, not knowing where the enemies will pop out. Having a partner or a small team will likely be essential in this map to full enjoy what it offers for new and veteran players alike.
