Clodsire Strengths and Weaknesses
Each Pokemon in the Scarlet and Violet universe has a few types of Pokemon that they’re strong, weak or resistant to.
So, it only makes sense to learn all of its strengths and weaknesses before you start hunting for it in the wild lands of Paldea.
Poison type Pokémon are by far the best matchup for Clodsire, as the Pokemon is both strong and resistant against them.
Strengths
Clodsire, as mentioned before, is a Dual-type Pokemon with Poison and Ground affinities. Which essentially means that it possesses an advantage over all of the Pokemon that are weak against Poison-types and weak against Ground-types.
Adding all of that up means that Clodsire is strong against Grass, Fairy, Rock, Fire, Steel, Electric and Poison type Pokemon.
Now, their strength ensures that each of Clodsire’s attacks and abilities will do double their base damage to the types we’ve mentioned.
Resistances
In addition to strengths and weaknesses, Pokemon in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet also possess a resistance ability against certain types of Pokemon.
Clodsire also possesses a resistance ability against certain types of Pokemon. These Pokemon types include Electric, Fighting, Bug, Rock, Fairy and Poison. This resistance ensures that the damage Clodsire takes from these types of Pokemon is halved during battle.
Weaknesses
All Pokemon have some weaknesses that players can exploit when battling them. Clodsire is unique in that respect, as it’s weak against ground type Pokemon while being a ground type Pokemon itself.
Other weaknesses include Water, Ice and Psychic types. Be careful when going up against any of these types of Pokemon with your Clodsire as their attacks will inflict double their base damage to your Pokemon.
Clodsire Locations
According to its entry on the Pokedex, you’ll usually find Clodsires residing in the ponds and muddy wetlands of Paldea in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet.
You can find the full list of these habitats (including the ones we mentioned in the intro) here:
- South Province (Area Four).
- South Province (Area Six).
- West Province (Area Three).
- South Province (Area One).
- Glaseado Mountain.
- East Province (Area Three).
- North Province (Area One).
- Tagtree Thicket.
Tips on How to Catch a Clodsire
Even after knowing the general locations of Clodsires on the map, there are some players that might struggle with encountering one.
So another location you can visit to encounter Clodsire is inside area six of the South Province where players need to move towards the Leaking Tower of Paldea.
Upon their arrival they’ll find a small pond that the Pokemon usually resides in. Now, if they don’t see it when they first arrive, they can move a little further away from the pond and come back by which time the Pokemon should respawn.
If all else fails, you can always eat a sandwich that boosts either Ground-type or Poison-type encounter rates, like recipe #49.

And that is everything we have for you about Clodsire, the latest addition to the Pokemon world in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet.
